QDs, by virtue of their ability to generate different colors, can be used as an invisible marker for security related anti-counterfeiting applications. A mixture of several different colored QDs can be combined to generate a fingerprint that is product specific and this QD fingerprint will only be visible under UV light from a hand held device. Some applications include use in currency printing, identification badges, tagging expensive consumer products to prevent counterfeiting and tracking product batches.

There are a host of other products and technologies under development that incorporate QDs. QTG’s ability to manufacture non-toxic dots in multiple colors and with customer based specifications is expected to expand the global use of QDs and make QTG a dominant player in this growing field because they lack the toxicity and cost issues of other manufacturers.
